Good Starter Guitar Pack - Very Lightweight and Easily Fixable Fret Sprout

This arrived very well packaged. The guitar is the main part of this starter package for learning guitar, but the extras are worth mentioning. The gig bag is little more than a cloth dust cover. The two piece stand is good and can be carried in the gig bag. Get a rechargeable tuner. This one had a screw that needed to be removed to put the battery in. I didn't have a screw driver that small, so it's in the trash. You'll need a rechargeable USB tuner anyway, so no big deal. The capo is fine. The patch cable is low quality, but you won't be giggin this guitar, so fine. And the strap is nothing to write home about. There is a tangle of extra strings that I urge you not to use. Get a better set of strings. And finally, the USB rechargeable amp is good for a beginner.
Now, the guitar. It is 6 lbs, very light, so good. The body feels like plastic/polymer of some type. And it's likely why the guitar is so light. Maybe there's some wood in there, but it doesn't feel like it. If you dislike heavy guitars, and I do, you will appreciate the very light body. The neck feels great. It's a modern slim C and very comfortable. The fretboard is some type of what appears to be teak wood, I guess. There were no high frets and the frets were not gritty at all. However, this guitar had the worst fret sprout I've experienced in a long time. It took a couple of minutes with a sanding sponge to fit it, so not a big deal. But Tostar may want to consider putting a sanding spongse in the goodies with the guitar like Fesley does. After using the sanding sponge, the neck is as comfy as that on any budget guitar I've played. The tuners are very basic, but the worked fine. the nut is likely plastic, but cut very well. The first fretted notes were perfect on all the strings. And the guitar was intonated very well right out of the box. Somebody seems to have set this guitar up. Very good. The nut is a bit over 42mm wide. The fretboard radius measures around 12 inches. the low E action was 2.5mm and the high E was 1.5mm. That's close to Fender spec. The trem was set to sit on the body, which is especially good for a beginner and for tuning stability.. The electronics all worked fine, although the bridge tone knob doesn't really change the tone. The pickups are okay. I didn't pull them apart, but they're probably ceramic and perfectly fine for a starter guitar. It took a couple of times stretching the strings and playing a couple of hours to achieve some tuning stability, but then it was fine. So, overall, this guitar is playable right out of the box, as long as you grab a cheap sanding sponge and fix the fret sprout, and grab yourself a rechargeable tuner. If yours doesn't have fret sprout, you'll really enjoy this right away. And for around $140 dollars, this is a good value for money.

Absolutely a fantastic guitar for the price. I was in dire need of a lightweight practice guitar. I had already purchased the model above this one, and absolutely love it. Fantastic quality for the money! Very playable out of the box. Nice fits and finishes, frets, nut, tuners, etc, And I'll say this for both of my Tostars!
Frets are a bit sharp at the ends on the model I have with the lightweight, eco composite body, but a quick edge file will solve instantly. I fully agree with Sean from SCAR MY GUITAR, that these are among the best budget guitars out there, with a lot of competition!

Nice entry level kit that comes with everything you need.

The kit is a nice kit, and everything worked as expected. One reason that I'm giving it 5 stars is due to their support. I had an issue, and when I got in touch with their support, they were able to solve it right away and make things right. You always hope you don't need to contact support, but I can say this company stands behind its product fully and was a pleasure to work with.

Tostar Electric Guitar Kit with Amp - Solid Beginner Package for Versatile Tones

This full-size 39" black electric guitar kit arrived complete with a 10W amp, cable, strap, picks, and gig bag, making it ready for immediate practice sessions. The rounded body design feels comfortable for extended play, while the SSH pickup configuration (two single-coils and one humbucker) delivers clean Strat-like quacks, warm neck tones, and punchy bridge leads via the 5-way switch.

Build and PlayabilityMahogany body with a maple neck and rosewood fretboard offers smooth fretting up to the 21st fret, with a 25.5" scale for familiar feel. Controls include two tone knobs and one volume, allowing quick tweaks without complexity—ideal for newcomers dialing in sounds from blues to rock.Amp and AccessoriesThe compact amp provides clean channel, overdrive, and basic EQ, loud enough for bedroom practice but pairs well with headphones. Tremolo bar adds dive-bomb fun, though tuning stability holds best with light whammy use; setup out of box was nearly perfect after minor truss rod tweak.

Practical choice for adult beginners seeking an all-in-one kit without steep learning curves.

Start them on their guitar journey

This is an awesome guitar kit that comes ready use. It makes a great fit for beginners. The guitar is lightweight, but still feels good in the hands. It gives you everything you need to tweak the guitar to your liking and perform maintenance with all the parts being high-quality. You even get a mini-amp which punches well-above its weight. Everything function's perfectly with the sound quality of the guitar and amp being pristine. This kit pack a punch. You can't find a better value. I highly recommend it.

A superb value in a beginner's guitar kit

This is a superb kit for beginners. Compared to its S-S-S sibling, this kit comes with a larger amp and of course this S-S-H config gives you a beefier bridge pickup sound. Both amps are tiny, but this one does sound better. The composite materials used in the construction of the guitar make for a very lightweight instrument, which I always appreciate. For the money, I haven't seen better value for the money for a beginner's electric guitar kit. It's not perfect. The guitar's frets have rough edges. The mint green color makes for a nice look - a bit bright though, and it's matte paint. The truss rod needed some tightening to grant the neck more relief - it comes with the truss rod wrench, thankfully. Once I did that small adjustment, the action was low enough to be comfortable. Highly recommend this guitar kit to anyone starting out. You get a tuner, cable, strap, and other goodies as well. Happy playing!

Great gift!

This guitar basically came ready to play right out of the box. I appreciate that it came with the digital tuner which was so easy to use and tune with absolutely zero musical experience. This guitar looks beautiful. It’s lightweight and easy to hold. It’s made with quality materials that feel like they will stand up to the abuse of regular use. Really great gift for someone that wants to get involved in music!
